The ego is one powerful force of consciousness that influences human behaviour. It functions in the preconscious, unconscious, and conscious mind and is responsible for curating false identity. It can be seen as that part of the human personality that uses the principles of 3D reality. The ego is made of self-image, self-identity, and self-esteem. It governs how we see ourselves in comparison to others.
The death of the ego can only be understood when the concept of the ego is analyzed. The ego refers to the part of a person that deals with self-esteem or self-worth. It is a sense of self that helps to define who we are and the kind of relationship we have with others. It is an integral part of knowing ourselves and how important we are compared to others. The ego is the gatekeeper of consciousness and part of the personality that constantly needs attention, gratification, and validation. It is an inherent trait in every person that deals with reality and affects the way people behave, morally or immorally. It can either be positive or negative but can become problematic when not overpowered.
The death of the ego is a psychedelic process that involves the dissolution of one's sense of self. It is the loss of false self-identity. The death of the ego creates a shift of the self-centred perspective to an unbiased view of the world. The ego death is not a sad event of inevitable physical death that eclipses one into an eternity of nothingness; rather, it ensures the continuation of our self awareness, and immortalizing mindfulness. When the river flows it never changes the direction in which the river flows and the death of the ego brings about a sense of mindfulness in which our outside circumstances or environment are no longer able to alter our state of mind, nor our emotional stability.
Ego death can be painful, although it leads to more openness, empathy and a deeper sense of connectivity with the universe. Ego death eliminates negative notions and makes one prone to different kinds of internal transformations.
After an ego death, the ways we used to process who we are become quietened. It's a slow yet steady rewiring of the mind where we develop healthier thought patterns.
Fighting ego death can complicate the process; don’t fight it, surrender to the process.
