THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA
The hindu tradition believes that everyone has a third inner eye. The Bindi, which is the red dot applied on the forehead in between the brows, worn by Hindu women, in most cases, represents the third eye chakra. The purpose of the bindi is to facilitate one’s ability to assess their inner guru or wisdom, allowing them to see the world in an unbiased manner. Let’s dive into this discussion to further understand the importance of this chakra.
What is The Third Eye Chakra?
The Third Eye Chakra, also known as the Ajna Chakra in Sanskrit which translates to “perceiving” is the sixth of the seven chakras in the body. It is located in the forehead region of the body, in between the eyebrows. It is said to be associated with our perception, intuition, spiritual communication, ability to focus and see the bigger picture. Indigo is the color that's normally used to represent this chakra as it is said to be a color that expresses wisdom and deep sincerity. The third eye chakra brings a sense of guidance that comes from within our being, making it easier to connect with the present rather than living in the past. It is being said that, when the third eye chakra is awakened, the sixth sense is developed, making it possible for us to connect the conscious and the unconscious mind together, and allowing us to remain mindful.
Signs That Show Us That Our Third Eye Chakra Is Unbalanced
When balanced, this chakra becomes the center of wisdom, concentration and intuitive psychic senses, allowing us to also self-reflect. But when the chakra is unbalanced or blocked, there is a disruption of energy causing us to suffer emotional conflict, and we develop an inability to see past the illusions of the 3D world and become more agitated under pressure. Candice Covington, the author of Essential Oils in Spiritual Practice: Working with the Chakras, Divine Archetypes, and the Five Great Elements, believes that the third eye is the doorway to the spiritual world. She says “The illusion of separation between self and spirit dissolves when the third eye connection is cultivated.”, and she is absolutely correct. Without this connection, we are left with uncertainty, lack of concentration, confusion, and pessimism, which can take a toll on us emotionally, and psychologically, as well as spiritually.
Furthermore, we find that when the third eye chakra is unbalanced or blocked, we are faced with emotional issues like indecision, insecurity, inability to understand, overthinking and paranoia. Aside from the negative emotions that are involved in the imbalance of the third eye chakra, there are also physical symptoms of an unbalanced third eye chakra that affects the neurons of the brain with problems in relation to vision, migraines, problems processing information, memory issues , insomnia, seizures, disorders of the pituitary and pineal gland and nasal congestion.
