IS IT LAZINESS OR SELF DOUBT?
Do you find yourself planning to achieve something, yet find yourself doing something else like binge-watching an entire season of your favorite series instead? You may find that you even lose interest in doing the things that you planned and strategized on. You might start getting confused or unfocused on yourself and your goals. If this has been happening to you, you need to know if you are lazy or you just simply doubt yourself.
Laziness Versus Self-doubt
Self-doubt happens when you feel uncertain regarding one or more aspects of yourself. Most people will experience self-doubt at certain times of their lives. Self-doubt may be a result of previous negative experiences, such as being belittled, that we've had or from attachment style issues. People with insecure attachments may have been badly criticized in the past, which contributed to their current feelings of self-doubt.
People who have been told in the past that they are not enough or are unable to do something may always doubt themselves. But this is merely the allowance of the projection of other people's insecurities. Most people also tend to have a deep sense of being socially pressured to achieve a goal before a certain age, and this can be more harmful than motivating.
On the other hand, laziness is a state where you don't feel like doing anything. You don't feel like spending your energy on anything. You sleep, play, and have things taken care of for you. Laziness is when you make a choice not backed by underlying insecurities to want to remain idle.
Laziness does not come from a place of fear or lack of passion and motivation. It comes from an adaptation of an "I don't care" attitude. A lazy person puts off necessary responsibilities and rather participates in activities that are less productive. All a lazy person wants to do is live a comfortable and luxurious life without taking physical action or utilizing their mind.
How To Be Productive
Decide whether your lack of interest in important things is caused by laziness or self-doubt. Knowing this helps you recognize negative patterns that might be an obstacle. Overcoming them and getting back your motivation might also feel overwhelming. If you always feel lazy, you can start with doing a few things at a time. Having a bulky to-do list can cause more stress. If you focus on the first or top two priorities, your plan will be much more manageable and meaningful. This can help you feel more motivated in no time because once you realize you actually are accomplishing things you’d want to accomplish more and more.
If you doubt yourself, you need to start spending time with supportive, positive minded people that can help you feel empowered and motivated. Celebrate every win, big or small. Find validation from within. Do not dwell on the past and remember that you are enough!
