A lot of people experience feelings of self doubt when they are faced with challenging situations, and this is normal. Self-doubt is the feeling of uncertainty when it comes to one of more aspects of oneself. When these feelings become such a big part of us that they begin to affect the way we view ourselves as a person or affect our ability to make decisions then we need to overcome them rather than succumb to them. Self-doubt can hold you back from seizing your opportunities. You’ll find that you're hesitant in getting started or finishing things start to become difficult for you.
So, how can you release Self-doubt?
Practice Self-Compassion: We are all human, and we make mistakes. It is absolutely okay to make mistakes. When we begin to doubt our abilities, we do this because we don't want to make more mistakes. However, the mistakes we make help us learn and grow. One of the best ways to release Self-doubt is to start practicing showing kindness to ourselves, no matter what happens.
Look To The Past: Oftentimes, self-doubt creeps in and becomes that monster in our heads that our minds use to keep us from making changes and leaving our comfort zones. If you look back on your past and remember your past experiences, you will see how good things turned out despite your turbulent circumstances and despite the fact that you doubted yourself. By doing this, you can let go of self doubt more easily.
Don't Compare Yourself To Others: If your reason for doubting yourself is because you think that you may not accomplish something at the same level as another person, perhaps, your colleague, this means you feel paralyzed.
It is important to know that everyone has different journeys and ideas of success. We can only control and focus on our path regardless of where others are at or what they have achieved.
Find Validation From Within: Even though it feels good to feel reassured by other people that we are doing a good job or that we can accomplish a difficult task, we should also have faith in ourselves. Constant reassurance will not help us if we don't believe in ourselves. Even if you aren't confident about where you are at the moment, you have to practice accepting yourself, your strength, and what you have to offer.
Spend Time With Supportive People: We all should have friends and family members in our lives who have our back and believe that we can achieve anything, even if it’s just 1 person. When you start doubting yourself, surround yourself with these people. Spend time with them. They can tell you things that will help boost your self-confidence and help you release self-doubt.
