BALANCING THE ROOT CHAKRA

Muladhara Chakra

The Root Chakra, known as Muladhara is positioned at the base of your spine at the sacrum and serves as the foundation of your ability to cultivate stability into your life. An imbalance root chakra is an unstable foundation in which false sense of securities are often built. It’s the power house for monetary endeavors and it regulates how well you can hold onto or manage your money. It also affects our feelings surrounding our safety. The Root Chakra's energy initiates our "fight or flight" reaction, as it regulates our primal drive to survive.

The Effects of A Root Chakra Imbalance

A Root Chakra imbalance manifests as fear and anxiety, and greed, with reluctance to share and feeling compelled to keep and possess, like money hoarding. However, we often lose what we hold onto too tightly. Hence an imbalanced root chakra results in an inability to hold onto money and often results in bouts of loss rather than gain. An imbalance in the Root Chakra is often characterized by feelings of lack, financial instability, fear of failure and lack of or over ambitious behavior.

When the Root Chakra's life force energy is out of balance, we may experience deep unrest, restlessness, and a loss of vitality. Someone who is overly ambitious and allows their ambitions to govern their lives are actually the servant of their ambitions rather than a master of them, which is an indication of an overactive Root Chakra. People who tend to suffer from lack of motivation and ambition and feel as if they have no purpose is an indication of an underactive Root Chakra. Root Chakra imbalances are the reason why people frequently operate from a place of lack. It’s also the reason why most people let their ambitions drive them towards being labelled as “Jack of all trades, master of none.”

The Effects of A Balanced Root Chakra

A balanced Root Chakra provides us with the anchoring energy we need to feel a sense of security and stability. Without this energy, we may lose interest in the world and be less engaged in it because it allows us to feel a sense of adequate purpose. A balanced Root Chakra is characterized by a sense of belonging and self awareness in the matter of one’s life purpose. This balance is also characterized by the absence of anger and fear and is attributed to a positive outlook on self-worth.

These emotions may be overwhelming, taking over our lives and interfering with all that we do and how we make decisions for our future. So you can understand why having balanced energetic centers is so essential. The most significant thing in this world is balance. Without balance our ability to unite in love, peace and sense of morality is completely disrupted.

What Blocks The Root Chakras

Ancestral programming is what ties us to our ancestors' problems and accomplishments. “History repeats itself, only faces change”, and this ancestral programming is like algorithms causing us to make reparations for what they have done, and what we have done in our previous lifetimes. The ancestral programming is embedded into our DNA sequence, and combined with our present experiences, it’s safe to say that the chances that everyone will be confronted with an imbalance at some time in their lives are 99.99%.

The Root Chakra's energy holds the karmas of our past and present life as well as the karma of our ancestors. So to be quite truthful we really don’t stand a chance when it comes to avoidance. The harsh history of everyone who came before us is handed down from generation to generation, resulting in unconscious behavioural tendencies.

How To Balance The Root Chakra

There are so many ways to rebalance your root chakra, and heal those negative emotions causing it’s imbalance or blockage and they include:

  • Physical exercise, such as Yoga that focuses on positively stimulating this energy center, helping you get grounded and inviting peace and stability into your space whilst releasing fear and anxieties is a great way to begin rebalancing.

  • Eating nutritious red foods like strawberries, tomatoes, pomegranates, hibiscus, apples and raspberries are a great way to aid a stable flow of root chakra energy.

  • Grounding, or connecting with the Earth by gardening, swimming in a lake or river, hiking or walking barefoot on the Earth or grass is a way we connect with nature as we are all born with a natural sense of togetherness and oneness.

  • Meditations and verbal or written affirmations are a great way to begin reprogramming the mind, alternating your perspective and ultimately ridding yourself of those thoughts and emotions that do nothing but promote stagnancy and self deterioration.

In order to start producing different outcomes we must do things that we’ve never done. To do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result is the true definition of insanity. We must be open to change and take the necessary steps towards recreating a better lifestyle not just for ourselves but for generations to come.
